Realm’s approach and lateral thinking in combining full price, outlet and leisure offers in a centre to differentiate it from the competition as well as restore income and value for the owner has been widely praised. It is seen as a potential model for other schemes who suffer from lack of full price demand.

Large scale remodelling work at this iconic scheme has already delivered a 24 store outlet mall which opened on level three of the centre in June 2017. In addition Princes Quay has benefited from new lighting, extensive redecoration, seating areas, new mall finishes, atrium flooring and a giant screen and sound system.

Further developments are currently underway with a new external signage package and in September 2018 a new pedestrian entrance was opened up to capitalise on the proximity of the new 3,500 seater Bonus Arena - a £36m state of the art event and entertainment complex which now stages major concerts, gigs, events and exhibitions each week.

Hull City Council has also been investing in the area immediately surrounding Princes Quay with £50m being spent on public realm works and improving Queen Victoria Square to further enhance the positioning of Princes Quay at the heart of a leisure and F&B hub within the city. In October 2018 work commenced on the long awaited pedestrian footbridge linking Princes Quay with the Marina and other attractions on the other side of the A63.
